Annual Permits
One-Year Overweight Permit:
- Cost: $500.00
- Maximum weight: 125% of legal tire loading, axle (group), or gross weight
One-Year Overwidth Permit:
- Cost: $500.00
Extended Period Permits
Duration: Up to 12 months
- Cost range: $75 to $1,000
- Varies based on:
- Number of months
- Whether oversize and/or overweight
- Up to 125% of legal limits
Escort Vehicle Requirements
When Escorts Are Required
Over Width
- Over 10'6" up to 12': 1 pilot car
- Over 12' up to 14': 1 front pilot car AND 1 rear pilot car
- Over 18' up to 22': 4 pilot cars or truck escort vehicles
- Over 22'+ (rolling road closure): 5 pilot cars or truck escort vehicles
Over Length
- Greater than 85': 1 pilot car
- Greater than 100': 1 front pilot car AND 1 rear pilot car
- Greater than 150': 3 pilot cars or truck escorts
Escort Vehicle Equipment Requirements
Signs
- "OVERSIZE", "WIDE LOAD", or "LONG LOAD" signs required
Lighting
- Roof-mounted amber high-intensity rotating, flashing, oscillating, or strobe type beacon
- Visibility: Minimum 500 feet
Operating Times
Standard Hours
- Daylight only: 1/2 hour before sunrise to 1/2 hour after sunset
- Monday through Saturday noon
- Sunday travel: NOT allowed for oversize/overweight loads
Extended Travel Hours
Loads not exceeding:
- 10'6" wide
- 16' high
- 85' long
May travel:
- Monday through Sunday
- During daylight hours (1/2 hour before sunrise to 1/2 hour after sunset)
Holiday Restrictions
Permitted oversized and overweight vehicles are PROHIBITED from moving during:
- Memorial Day holiday period
- July 4th holiday period
- Labor Day holiday period
