Superload Definition
A move is considered a Superload if:

Permit Types and Costs
Single Trip Permit
- Base fee: $30.00
- Plus weight fee: $10.00 for each 8,000 lbs over legal weight
- Duration: 5 days
Superloads:
- Starting cost: $60.00 (higher costs based on load size and additional requirements like escorts or bridge analyses)
Escort Vehicle Requirements
When Escorts Are Required
Over Length
- Over 90': 1 rear escort
- 100' to 120': 1 front escort AND 1 rear escort
- Over 120': 1 front escort, 1 rear escort, AND Delaware State Police (DSP)
Over Width
- Over 13' on multi-lane highways: 1 rear escort
- Over 13' on two-lane highways: 1 front escort
- Over 14': 1 front escort AND 1 rear escort
- Over 15': 1 front escort, 1 rear escort, AND Delaware State Police (DSP)
Over Height
- At 15': 1 front escort AND 1 rear escort
- At 17'6": 1 front escort, 1 rear escort, AND Delaware State Police (DSP)
Overhang
- Over 15' overhang: 1 escort (unless permit specifies otherwise)
Operating Times
Standard Hours
- Monday through Sunday: Sunrise to sunset
Night Travel Allowed
Permitted loads not exceeding:
- 75' long
- 12' wide
- 14'6" high
- 120,000 lbs
May travel:
- 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM
- Monday through Friday only
