Permit Types

Escort Vehicle Requirements
When Escorts Are Required
Superloads & Large Structures
- At least 1 front escort (pilot car) AND 1 rear escort (pilot car) required
Over Width (Over 14' wide)
On highways with fewer than 4 lanes:
- Front and rear escorts required
- Alternative: Rear escort may be eliminated if warning light attached to:
- Top of towing vehicle
- Rear of each load
- Mounted 2-8 feet above road surface
Over Height
- Over 18' high: 1 escort with height pole
Escort Vehicle Equipment
- Warning lights must be installed on top of each escort vehicle
