Escort Vehicle Requirements
When Escorts Are Required
Over Width
- Over 14' wide: 1 escort
- Over 16' wide: 2 escorts
- Over 17'6" wide: 2 escorts AND Highway Patrol (notify utilities)
- Over 20' wide: 2 escorts AND 1 police escort
Over Length
- Over 175' long: Minimum 1 police escort
- Over 200' long: Minimum 2 police escorts
Night Travel
Escort required for loads exceeding:
- 10' wide, OR
- 105' long, OR
- Overhang in excess of 10'
Slow Vehicle Escort Requirement
- Escort displaying "Slow Vehicle" sign must accompany oversize/overweight vehicles
- Required when: Unable to maintain minimum speed of 45 MPH on freeways or interstate highways
